Weather Information
If you are planning a wedding in Asheville, you should be aware that, while the weather is mild and agreeable most of the time, conditions change frequently. A favorite saying here is, "If you don't like the weather, just wait a minute, it will change." Meteorologists blame this on our location between two giant mountain ranges -- the Great Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains. We enjoy four distinct seasons, with snowy, cold winters, cool, rainy springs, hot, bright summers, and crisp falls with lots of color. While outdoor weddings look nice on t.v., most of them are filmed in sunny, dry Southern California. If any part of your event is going to be outdoors, we encourage you to plan for inclement weather. And definitely plan on cooler temperatures after dark.

More Weather Tips for the NC Mountains
July and August are the hottest months -- daytime temps are in the '80s-'90s, with super-high humidity. We often have afternoon showers between 3 and 5. Tents, fans, and water bottles recommended!
January and February are the coldest months, with lots of rain and snow. Not recommended!
March is the wettest month, with both rain and snow, but most spring months are rainy and cool.
(Some parts of WNC are wet all year -- Highlands, NC is considered a "rain forest.")
April and November can be super cold or super warm; it just depends on the year. Plan for both. Snow in April is a still a possibility.
October is the driest month, with the most clear days. Trees turn colors mid-month and are spectacular! But it is the most popular month for weddings in the mountains, so book everything at least a year in advance.
Tent heaters and patio heaters after mid-October are required.
September and November are also pretty dry, but much cooler at night in November.
December is cold and has the most cloudy days, plus it gets dark quite early.
