ASHEVILLE WEATHER

Weather

If you are planning a wedding in Asheville, you should be aware that, while the weather is mild and agreeable most of the time, conditions change frequently. A favorite saying here is, "If you don't like the weather, just wait a minute, it will probably change." Meteorologists blame this on our location between two giant mountain ranges -- the Great Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains. We enjoy four distinct seasons, with snowy, cold winters, cool, rainy springs, hot, bright summers, and crisp falls with lots of color. While outdoor weddings look nice on t.v., most of them are filmed in sunny, dry Southern California. If any part of your event is going to be outdoors, we encourage you to plan for inclement weather.  Below are some resources to help you:

bulletJuly and August are the hottest months -- daytime temps are often in the '90s.
bulletJanuary and February are the coldest months, with lots of rain and snow.
bulletMarch is the wettest month, statistically, but most spring months are rainy.
(Some parts of WNC are wetter -- Highlands is considered a  "rain forest".)
bulletApril and November can be super cold or super warm; it just depends on the year.
bulletOctober is the driest month, with the most clear days. November is also pretty dry.
bulletDecember has the most cloudy days.
