LOCAL I
am a native of Asheville. The
Ivey side of my family has been in North Carolina since the 1600's. The
other side of my family is from Iceland. I have also lived in Charleston, S.C., Raleigh/Durham, and Atlanta.
PROFESSIONAL
I graduated from Asheville School and have an B.A. Degree from Duke University. I believe strongly in customer
service, which to me means both big things-- like going above and
beyond the contract to make sure the client is happy -- and little things
-- like returning phone calls and emails promptly.
ORGANIZED
I
am
naturally a very organized person, not in the Martha Stewart vein,
but more in terms of paperwork -- making budgets, lists, calendars, schedules,
filing, and also in terms of communicating.
I'm also great with computers. I
check and recheck everything, but I am not so detail-oriented that I lose
sight of the big picture. I can see the trees and the
forest at the same time.
EXPERIENCED
I
have been planning weddings and events here for 15 years. After 12
years in retail, (and being involved in numerous weddings), I
purchased a bridal shop called Weddings for You in
1993. The owner, a dear lady named Madeline Metts,
helped train me in all things bridal. I found that I enjoyed
the planning side of weddings more than the retail side. So I
closed the shop, changed the name to Events for You, and have been doing
wedding and event planning ever since. Examples of events I
have managed are: weddings, reunions, holiday markets, trade shows, open
houses, and the Asheville Holiday Parade.
